To be treated at Wimbledon Clinics, you’ll generally need a referral from your GP or another specialist or consultant.
Even if you’re self-funding it’s best that you contact your GP, as this helps ensure that your referral and treatment is seamless.
Once the referral has been made, please contact Wimbledon Clinics to make an appointment. Our reception is staffed from 8.00am to 8.00pm, Monday to Friday, and 8.00am to 12.00pm on Saturdays.
If you have the name of the consultant or specialist you’ve been referred to, the receptionist will transfer your call to the appropriate secretary who’ll arrange the appointment for you.
If you’re unsure of the specific treatment you require, you may be asked a few questions to ensure you’re referred to the appropriate consultant (see Orthopaedic Consultants).
We’ll need to take a few details from you when you call, including address, telephone number and also whether you have medical insurance.
If you wish to make a claim on your medical insurance, it is important you keep your insurers informed at each stage of treatment. You may be given a pre-authorisation number or be asked to complete a claim form. We recommend that you check the details of your policy as any charges that aren’t covered do become your responsibility.
If you are a self-funding patient, the approximate cost will be given at each stage of the treatment. We ask that you pay this amount in full on the day of your treatment.
Following your initial consultation it may be that you’re referred for further tests or other treatment. Your consultant will explain the various tests to you but feel free to ask any questions you may have along the way.
Once a diagnosis has been made, your consultant will discuss your treatment plan with you.
If surgery is required, the secretary will arrange your admission with the hospital directly, whilst keeping you fully informed at each stage. It will however, remain your responsibility to contact your insurance company of the intended admission.
If you are self funding, you will be advised by the admitting hospital of the estimated costs. Full payment is requested by the hospital on the day of admission.
Following surgery you may require further treatment, for example a course of physiotherapy. This will all be explained to you by your consultant so there should be no surprises along the way.
If you do have any further questions, please contact us here at Wimbledon Clinics, either by telephone, in person or by e-mail (info@wimbledonclinics.co.uk). We’ll be happy to help.
