Jonathan Rees, FRCP, FFSEM, is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Sports Physician with extensive experience in both fields of medicine. For the last five years he has been a Consultant Rheumatologist at Headley Court, the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey and Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.
Jonathan graduated in medicine from the Royal London Hospital in 1995 and gained further postgraduate experience at numerous teaching hospitals including St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London, Guy’s and St Thomas’, St George’s and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
Jonathan has recently completed his Medical Doctorate thesis on Tendinopathy and has established a specialist Tendon Clinic at Wimbledon Clinics. In 2008 he was awarded the British Society of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM) Basic Science Award for his tendon related research. He has published widely and has lectured both nationally and internationally.
He was a Medical Officer to the British Team at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games and has also worked in Rugby and Professional Football. He is a former President of the Sports Medicine Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
