Our celebrated and most prolific knee surgeon, Mr Fairbank MA FRCS, qualified in 1986 after winning a place to read medicine at Queens’ College Cambridge, and St Thomas’ Hospital London.
After Orthopaedic Fellowship in Australia and the US, in 1997 he was appointed as a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer to St George’s Hospital, London. There, he was Surgical Tutor, Lead Clinician (Knees), and a member of the Research and Ethics Committee for three years.
Currently an Honorary Consultant at Epsom Orthopaedic Centre, Mr Fairbank is now a dedicated knee specialist, performing only adolescent and adult knee surgery. His expertise covers Meniscus, Articular cartilage, ACL reconstruction - arthroscopic surgery, unicompartment and open surgery total knee replacement.
A keen golfer and sailor he is also a sports injury specialist, treating football, rugby, golf, tennis and athletic related injuries. Supported by Wimbledon Clinics’ multi-disciplinary team, he is undoubtedly one of our star knee ‘performers’, with patients ranging from Olympic and professional sports stars to top-line actors and singers.
