Mr Gordon is a consultant orthotist specialising in the conservative orthotic management of the many foot and ankle conditions that affect people of all ages – from children through to the elderly as well as elite athletes. Before joining Wimbledon Clinics, Gary was Director of Orthotics at a large specialist orthopaedic hospital and has over 20 years experience in this field. He can provide independent orthotic solutions for patients within the clinic's multi-disciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists and sport physicians.
Orthotic assessments include digital force plate analysis of lower extremity function and an evidence based approach to evaluating an orthotic intervention. This approach is well suited to the resolution of the subtle foot, knee and ankle problems especially experienced by marathon runners and includes advice on sports footwear and the provision of custom in-shoe orthoses using the most technologically advanced materials. Mr Gordon is also skilled in assessing and fitting knee braces for skiing and ski boot orthotics.
Orthotics Clinics Orthotics is the medical field concerned with the application and manufacture of orthoses - devices that support or correct the function of a limb or the torso. The term is derived from the Greek "ortho", to straighten.
Foot orthotics allow the muscles, tendons and bones of the feet and lower legs to function at their highest potential. When appropriately prescribed, orthotics can decrease pain, not only in the foot, but in other parts of the body such as the knee, hip and lower back. They can also increase stability in an unstable joint, prevent a deformed foot from developing additional problems, and improve quality of life overall.
