Consultant surgeon Mr Rhidian Thomas maintains an active interest in teaching and research, both at Wimbledon Clinics and Imperial College London. In April of this year he was voted onto the scientific commitee for the prestigious ACL Study Group. This is a multi-national group made up of leaders in the field of knee ligament surgery from all over the world, who meet every two years..

He is also one of the programme directors for the education of registrars in sports and excercise medicine with the London Deanery, which runs weekly programmes at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at Charing Cross Hospital.

This Autumn, he is giving some keynote lectures on ankle and knee problems: one in Liverpool at the combined meeting with the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma Association (BOSTA) and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS); also in Brighton at the annual meeting of the British Association of Sports Excercise Medicine (BASEM).

Mr Thomas also runs the education programme for the monthly Wednesday meeting at Wimbledon Clinics. The venue this autumn has been changed to the Roehampton Club. In addition to local surgeons, sports physicians and rehabilitaion specialists, this term also has speakers such as Dean Watson from Adelaide, talking about the role of the cervical spine and headaches, and Wayne Diesel from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, talking about hamstring injuries.

Full details of the programme can be found in the education section of this website.
