Return from Injury Ski Camp in Verbier – December 2009 |
|
| Whether you have sustained a minor or major injury, getting back on skis can be daunting. Pro-skiers returning from injury spend time working with their coach and physiotherapist, who work closely together to optimise recovery. Jonathan Bell, a knee reconstruction specialist, and Claire Robertson a Consultant Physiotherapist, both work at Wimbledon Clinics. They have worked closely in the past with Warren Smith Ski Academy to return pro-skiers to competition skiing. They now have set up a similar ‘Return from Injury’ service to the non-professional skier. This is the only service of this type in the UK. This course is aimed at skiers of good intermediate and above returning from injury. It will be suitable for those who have had all types of injury including those who may have had surgery and wish to return to skiing with guidance from our team. Prior to the Verbier ski camp you will be thoroughly assessed by Claire, (herself trained to ski by Warren Smith) in time to allow you to bring your strength and condition up to a standard to allow you to join the one week ski camp at the Warren Smith Ski Academy. In Verbier, Warren Smith and Claire will work together to build on the previous rehabilitation and integrate it with the correct technique. Following the sessions on the hill, Claire will be available for individual treatment sessions* To ensure that you are ready to go back onto skis, you will attend a one hour assessment with Claire at the Wimbledon Clinics - the earlier this is carried out, the more time there is to bring your condition to the standard required to progress to on-snow coaching. |
The 2009 Ski Camp was a great success
The third Return from Injury Ski Camp took place in Verbier in the week of 6th December 2009. The Warren Smith Academy hosted the camp which was a great success with everyone getting back on the snow under the watchful eye of Jonathan Bell and Claire Robertson. Once again the Warren Smith Academy coaches rose to the occasion and helped our recovered skiers to overcome their nerves to hit the slopes! We all enjoyed a 30cm dump of snow so everyone got to ski powder as well - what more could you ask for. |
